DESCRIPTION: APW - Hamilton, Grade 993 marked "Extra," 21J, 16S, gold-filled original HC, white enamel DS dial, SW-LS, fully capped lever escapement, ornate two-tone gilt and nickel damascene, gilt mvt screws, s#367567. Comes with a fitted Hamilton marked box of more modern vintage. A beautiful and very rare movement, this example is listed in the Hamilton ledger as having been sold on November 20th, 1906 to the Vander Voort Brothers of Buffalo, New York and is from a group of 10 consecutive serial numbers (367561 to 367570) which are shown as sold to this firm in November-December of 1906. CONDITION: Mvt: Running, excellent cosmetic mvt condition overall, good two-tone color, some marring and short scratches around balance cock screw, scratches at perimeter of barrel bridge to space between s# and larger winding wheel, corresponding fine scratch at perimeter of larger winding wheel, some typical mild fine to micro-fine scratches elsewhere, some marring to balance jewel setting, regulator spring with ample oxide, some small bits of oxide elsewhere to steelwork; dial with outer chapter hls at 6 and 7:30, few tiny surface nicks to outer chapter near 1, some edge wear under bezel, some mild wispy clouding of surface glaze that is only visible at certain lighting angles; excellent hands; case front opens somewhat wide of 90 degrees (to approximately 105 degrees), case shows very light wear, a small notched filed to inner lip of front lid presumably from a past gold content testing, some scattered dings and nicks to band, reduced engine turning detail with some areas of fully loss to nearly full loss around center-rear, cuvette is through to underlying brass but with more lustrous appearance appearing to have been polished at some time, inner surface of front is nearly entirely through to underlying brass; tight bow, crown shows light wear and is seated higher than appropriate on case pendant; good glass crystal. Box shows very little wear, few mild exterior dings and nicks, lower padded portion with some play within box.
